Homotherium was a close relative of Smilodon with smaller sabers. Homotherium was built more like a Cheetah, but that didn't stop it fom attacking the largest mammoth. Homotherium was able to kill a Columbian Mammoth calf. We know because there is a cave in Texas called the Friesenhanhan cave. In the cave are the remains of 30 Homotheriums with the remains of 300 to 400 mammoth calves.
